how moderate muslim came to power in Turkey? How is Bulding Moderate Muslim Networks ? CHEPTER -10 Strategic and Institutional Steps The first step is for the U.S. government and its allies to make a clear decision to build moderate networks and to create an explicit link between network-building activities and overall U.S. strategy and programs. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to create an institutional structure within the U.S. government to guide, support, oversee, and continuously monitor the effort. Within the framework of this structure, the U.S. government must build up the necessary expertise and capacity to execute the strategy, which includes 1-An ever-evolving and ever-sharpening set of criteria that distinguishes true moderates from opportunists and from extremists camouflaged as moderates, and liberal secularists from authoritarian secularists. The U.S. government needs to have the ability to make situational decisions to knowingly and for tactical reasons (i.e., not out of ignorance, or without due and careful consideration) support individuals outside of that range under specific circumstances. 2-An international database of partners (individuals, groups, organizations, institutions, parties, etc.). 3-Mechanisms for monitoring and refining programs, projects, and decisions. These should include a feedback loop to allow for inputs and corrections from those partners who have been found to be most trustworthy. The network-building effort could initially focus on a core group of reliable partners whose ideological orientation is known, and work outward from there (i.e., following the methodology of underground organizations). Our approach calls for a few fundamental changes to the current, symmetric strategy of engagement with the Muslim world. The current approach identifies the problem area as the Middle East and structures its programs accordingly. That area is much too large, too diverse, too opaque, and too much in the grip of immoderate sectors to allow for much traction (as reflected in the experience of MEPI). It can absorb very large amounts of resources with little or no impact .Instead, the United States should pursue a new policy that is asymmetric and selective. As in the Cold War, U.S. efforts should avoid the opponent’s center of gravity and instead concentrate on the partners, programs, and regions where U.S. support has the greatest likelihood of making an impact in the war of ideas. With regard to partners, it will be important to identify the social sectors that would constitute the building blocks of the proposed networks. Priority should be given to groups and individuals that meet the criteria that we have identified for appropriate partners and that fall within these sectors: 1-Liberal and secular Muslim academics and intellectuals 2-Young moderate religious scholars 3-Community activists 4-Women’s groups engaged in gender equality campaigns 5-Moderate journalists and writers. http://www.rand.org/news/press.07/03.26.... http://www.rand.org/pubs/monographs/MG57... Personal training business name help. Name some what risque? I’m currently going school for exercise science I'm only a freshman at the moment but I want to start building my brand now. I was thinking about starting a blog as part of my brand building strategy. I live in a city with a 40% gay population. Its a bed room community but has a great mix of ages living and working within the city. I'm also less than five miles away from downtown fort-Lauderdale. So I’ll probably be targeting the white color and government workers. I have two domain names in mind lookgreatnaked.net greatnaked.net lookgreatnaked.com has already been taken but the trainer who owns that site is based in New York, I am in Florida. greatnaked.net is taken but is just a holding page with a few porn links. It doesn't even come up when you type greatnaked in Google. We all want to look great naked, but I’m afraid of scaring off more modest clients. I'll probably use my name for my business so no one is going to write greatnaked/lookgreatnaked on a check.

What do I Need to Build a Computer? I'm on an average budget and need to upgrade/get a new computer. Basically, when I ran the Vista system checker, it said that my mother board is fine but my graphics card needs to be changed. However my mother board uses AMD cards and they are hard to find, thus I need a new mother board as well. I play games, mainly real time strategy so I would need a system powerful enough to allow me to play the latest games like SupCom and C&C3. Also, I use photoshop alot to edit my photos and for graphics design, so I need a system good enough for that as well. It needs to be core 2 duo compatible I have 2 IDE hard disks, and a dvd writer that needs to be internally connected. I am fine with built in sound. I need help in what brand and specific cards to buy. Links will be appreciated to the mother board and graphics card websites. Please note again that I am on an average budget, and basic game and design system requirements are enough. Thanks in advance! :) Yeah, there's a typo about the graphics cards. My motherboard only takes AGP type graphics cards. And I can't find any of them good enough for Vista and the latest games, so I need PCI-express cards. Sorry, hope it clears up a bit.
Remember those old photos during World War II: Churchill, Stalin, Roosevelt, like master of the Universe? Remember those old photographs taken during World War II, with Churchill, Stalin, and Roosevelt, plus selected others, posing as masters of the universe? The victors were meeting to carve up Europe, divide the spoils, plan the future, map out a plan for our lives. Of course they created a political and economic disaster, which is what happens when mere mortals come to believe themselves to be gods. But there is something about those photographs that continues to inspire political leaders all over the world. They are forever cobbling together grand summits to negotiate important things on a global scale. If there are no issues, they invent them. The supreme goal: to appear in the history books. And the power and money that come in the meantime isn't a bad thing either. And so we are represented at the G-8 meeting by Bush the Great, who this time decided two things, both of which are going to cost you plenty. First, America has decided, meaning Bush on your behalf, to forge ahead with a twenty-five-year-old idea of a missile defense system to protect against incoming nukes. In the talks on this issue, Bush assured us that "there will be a serious set of strategic decisions" to make, and surely he is the right one to make them! But wait a minute. Wasn't that idea a Cold War relic that never really went anywhere? The original plan was to move away from the "mutually assured destruction" of the US-Russian nuclear stand-off. Memory jog: our governments had originally planned to "protect" us by promising to retaliate against an oncoming nuclear bomb by launching a bomb against the other guys. That way if tens of millions of people died, at least the survivors would have the consolation of knowing that tens of millions of people in another country had died too. To end such a ghastly policy was a good idea. But to replace it with a defensive strategy had its own problems. For one thing, it is enormously provocative for a nuclear power to build a defense against nuclear weapons. Consider which is more alarming: a guy pointing an assault weapon at you or a guy in bullet-proof armor pointing an assault weapon at you. The Russians in the 1980s were precisely right to be frightened by the idea of a US missile defense system. It suggested that the US believed it could survive an attack and might be more tempted to launch one. Whether any of these high-flying gadgets would actually work is another question. A look at the record of government technology in light of NASA does not inspire confidence. But the key thing was the price tag of tens of billions. Truly the military-industrial machine is a harsh mistress, and demands a constant flow of cash. What does any of this have to do with now? Bush is open to reviving the idea of a missile defense but get this: in cooperation with Russia! Putin was the first to suggest it. He wants the two governments to get together and put a nuclear defense system in Kazakhstan. But wait a minute. If the two great enemies are linking up to build a defense, don't they need an enemy? Yes, they do and one can always be conjured up. So why not make it Iran? And so they did. And surely in the days ahead we will be reminded of how Russia, after all, was our heroic ally in World War Two. But the idea that Iran, which has no nuclear bombs at all, is a threat on the scale to challenge both the United States and Russia is utterly implausible on its face. It is a case of a lion vs. a flea. What's more, if there is a drive in Iran to get nuclear weapons, there is no doubt that the push is not offensive but defensive. After the US exterminated Iraqi civilization, does anyone doubt that Iran has good reason to worry, and a national interest in protecting itself? Now we move on to the next great idea that Bush had at the G-8 summit. He agreed in principle to discuss reducing US CO2 emissions in the spirit of Kyoto. The whole world cheered. And the left wing in the United States was gratified, even if its spokesmen said that Bush didn't go far enough. The trouble with all this talk of emissions reduction is that it takes place at too many levels of abstraction. A century ago, the great economic challenge was industrialization, since everyone understood that industry was the future. Governments took the idea too far, and forced industrialization prevailed from the US to Russia. And today? The elites desire exactly the opposite: deindustrialization of the most prosperous place on the planet. And of course they want to do this by force. And let no one doubt that this is precisely what they have in mind for us. They want to take away our cars, barbecue grills, and leaf blowers, and curb the ability of producers to develop and transport their products. Lower emissions means nothing less than a lower standard of living for you and me — and this despite any proof that doing so would make the slightest bit of difference in global temperature trends. On the margin, more regulations on the use of fossil fuels would also cartelize industry, making it more difficult for smaller players to compete, and raising the price of fuel ever higher. There are some people who might win from the deal: the largest companies and the government. But for the rest of us, this is nothing short of disaster. (By the way, if Bush really wants to curb emissions, I can think of no better way to start than by ending the gas-guzzling Iraq War.) What can we say about the Left that has made this its cause célèbre? American leftism once claimed to favor liberty, power to the people, and the disempowerment of elites. Today, they stand and cheer as a horde of power-mongering phonies gather in far-flung estates and plot the future of the world economy. So this is what leftism has come down to: the hope that world dictators will successfully conspire to wreck our standard of living. Between the right's love for military socialism and the left's love of forced de-industrialization, together with the perpetual menace of politicians' clamor to make history, the cause of liberty needs even more ardent defenders.
what are the channels of distribution of perdue farms inc.? 1.Perdue Farms, Inc., has been a privately held family owned company since 1920. Over the years Perdue has become vertically integrated in order to be more competitive and maintain financial stability. Perdue’s objective is to be the leader in broiler and related poultry products in the industry. They strive to maintain quality and constantly improve efficiency and service, both today and in the future. Perdue Farms Inc. has a mission to provide the highest quality poultry and poultry related products to retail and food service customers. They want to be the recognized industry leader in quality and service, providing more than expected from their customers, associates, and owners. They will accomplish this by maintaining a tradition of pride in their products, growth through innovation, integrity in the management of their business, and commitment to Team Management and the Quality improvement process. Perdue’s overall mission is strong but a strategy for long term growth and market development needs to be reviewed and evaluated. 2.Perdue Farms Inc. has numerous external opportunities and threats. The external opportunities that effect Perdue are as follows; •To broadly diversify and have greater market share, domestically and internationally •To increase marketing of healthy image products that envelops a strong niche market. •To ship via plane, to maintain fresh not frozen broilers and increase market share and penetration. •Develop new markets in the Upper Mid-west to increase market share. •Increase sales of food service chicken and turkey from 20% of overall sales to 30% due to a strong 12% growth rate. •To expand the international grain and oilseed market •With an increase push on health in 1994, chicken sales are up over red meat sales. •Average annual consumption of chicken is up to 80lbs/person/year, an all time high. The external threats are as follows: •Most of the competition sells frozen products for less money. •Perdue’s cost to raise chickens is above the national average. •Growth rate in chicken sales is only 5% due to lack of frozen line. •Over capacity of chickens has reduced wholesale prices, which reduces profit margins. •Competition is strong in broiler industry with 53 competitors. •Untapped markets in the Upper Mid- west need to be explored. 1.The Perdue Farms, Co. has internal strengths and weaknesses that need to be addressed and evaluated; The strengths are as follows; •Perdue is vertically integrated which means that they produce the chickens, they breed, hatch the eggs, they select the growers, build Perdue chicken houses, formulate and manufacture their feed, oversee care and feeding, operate their own processing plants, distribute via truck and marketing. They now also sell what used to be waste, such as the chicken feet that is sold to the Orient as a delicacy. •Privately held firm •Technologically advanced, ex.,20% more breast meat than the competition •Birds are fed organically and not feed additives. •Sell both raw and pre-cooked chickens and turkeys. •Good compensation package to the workers. •Non-union company. •MIS efficient and essential to operating the business. •Good variety from fresh oven stuffer roasters, cooked prepared foods, cutlets, tenders, Fit n easy and much more. •Good TQM with mission and vision •Excellent R&D for better meat to bone ratios. •Keep overhead low, quality up •Great diverse product line that has changed with consumer changes. •Horizontal diversification when they bought Showell Farms, which made them the third largest producer in the broiler industry. •Great social responsibility, code of ethics •Environmentally concerned about waste and prevention •Strong effective marketing The weaknesses in the Perdue Farm, Inc. case are as follows; •They only sell fresh not frozen chickens •Deliveries are only made by truck so the radius to overnight chickens is limited. •Lack of long-term planning for future changes 4) I would suggest a strategy that Perdue would focus on maintaining their quality and efficiency along with plans for extensive market development. I would like to see them expand into the Upper mid-west before other markets gain strong holds and market share. If Perdue plans on maintaining their place in the market they need to expand and continue to diversify their products to attract niche markets and stay ahead of the competition. According to Porter’s generic strategies, he points out that in order to gain the competitive advantage companies need to draw from three bases: cost leadership, differentiation, and focus. In my study of Perdue, I feel that they are a differentiation and focus orientated company. First, I see Perdue as a leader in quality and efficiency but not a cost leader. Cost leadership implies that you strive to be the low-cost producer in your particular industry. This is to the contrary for Perdue; they have marketed in a way to make the consumer pay a little more for a better product. In fact, this did not happen by accident. Perdue did not want to be known as the cheapest but to be the best quality for the consumer, at a fair price. What Perdue does take from cost leadership is that they are highly efficient, low overhead, their intolerance to waste, broad span of control, rewards linked to efficiency and cost cutting measures and open lines of communication between workers and upper management. Perdue’s successful strategy of horizontal integration to gain competitive advantage was to purchase Showell Farms which made Perdue the third largest broiler company in the United States. I see Perdue as being highly successful with differentiation, which implies that they produce products, and services that are considered unique, industry wide and directed at consumers who are relatively price-in-sensitive. Perdue has ongoing product development, which states that they seek to increase sales by improving, or modifying present products or services. Perdue has been an industry leader with constant attention paid to consumer wants and needs. They watch trends such as fitness and weight consciousness, by introducing the Fit n Easy line that markets skinless and boneless chicken parts with nutritional information and recipes. Perdue also followed the trend of the working family and began to market prepared foods, which has done extremely well. Prepared foods such as pre-cooked chickens, turkeys, parts, nuggets, and the like sell easily to working families. Finally, I see Perdue’s strongest strategy according to Porter is focus. Perdue has wonderful R&D that constantly follows market trends and changes that will be beneficial to their growth. Perdue has never forgotten where they came from and this is what makes them strong. Focus allows them to change with the times and not become over diversified where they overlook their cash cows and forget to nurture their stars. Perdue knows that quality and efficiency are at the heart of their operation and do not stray from that. Their innovation and integrity to be the leader has brought them customer loyalty and appreciation for quality where price is not the number one factor. Perdue’s ability to focus on strong team management has allowed them to penetrate and develop new markets with ease. Perdue has a high penetration of advertising on TV and print along with opening up new territories to further expand their market share. Their vision has been a good guide and has led them to a very successful value chain. Perdue’s attention to detail in every aspect of the business has been proven successful and the financial status of the company reflects it. Today, Perdue, is further expanding with new acquisitions and product lines. Their innovative thinking and drive to be the leader shows in all they do. In 1997 they started marketing their Café Perdue line and have seen slow, with steady success. Perdue’s prepared foods are selling incredibly well with the American family on the run. As of September 1998, Perdue made a new acquisition, toward horizontal integration, with GOL-PAK, a competitor in the foodservice and prepared foods business. The new relationship will further enhance Perdue’s prepared food and foodservice business. GOL-PAK specialized in the development and production of products primarily for the foodservice industry with a list including the top 100 chain restaurants. Perdue sees this as a significant purchase to enhance their reputation and make them strong contenders in the prepared food and foodservice industry. CEO, Jim Perdue, feels that they are well positioned in the market place and continued growth along with R&D will help them to maintain quality and efficiency, along with strong market penetration and market share.
is this a good story? some of the words are underlined beause there spelling words (language arts homework) just wanted to know if it was good He had always had this exceedingly odd power. From what he knew, nobody else had it. And he knew. Blake could hear thoughts. And not just his own thoughts, other people’s thoughts too. He couldn’t control it, though. If he could, he wouldn’t listen. It was like an invasion of privacy. However some people’s thoughts were pretty engrossing, while others were like watching grass grow. For example, he might hear some government official going over government secrets. But then it might switch to some person thinking, Should I paint the front door green or brown? The worst part was that Blake lived in New York City. He could hear people’s thoughts ranging from planning huge expeditions to middle-schoolers thinking about their math homework; Is 3/4 equivalent to 6/8? This particular day, Blake was sitting in history, hearing people secretly complain about how boring it was. All of a sudden, the fire alarm went off. Chaos filled the school, and all of the students quickly evacuated the building. Blake couldn’t stand chaos. He was hearing millions of different thoughts at once, none of them his own. He even heard one person thinking about how nice the emerald walls looked. Then the most surprising thing popped into his head: Is that guy crazy? There’s a fire going on, and he is worrying about how the walls look! Blake thought that, for maybe just a moment, he had heard the thoughts of another mind reader. Blake quickly shook it off. He figured that the person thinking about the walls had actually said it out loud, and he had gotten it confused with their thoughts. But, still… Outside, the air was filled with electrifying thoughts. Some people had actually seen the fire, and one person had seen Mrs. Johnson, the accountant, flicking a cigarette to the ground. Maybe that had caused the fire. Then he heard something again, No, it was the cafeteria! The fire was in the cafeteria! It was the same voice that he had heard before. Now he was sure there was another mind reader in his school. He had to make an ethical decision: should he follow the thoughts and kind of stalk the person, or just ignore them, like all the others. He knew that these thoughts were exceptionally unique from all the others, and he had to follow them. This is very enigmatic, he thought. He kept listening for clues. He finally was able to link the thoughts to a source- Jacob Campbell. He had just moved to Blake’s town last week, and only had lunch with him. Blake met with him at lunch. “Hey, c’mere,” he said. Jacob came over. “No.” “What?” asked Blake. “I’m not a mind reader.” “I didn’t say anything,” Blake pointed out. “Yes you did,” said Jacob. “You said, ‘Are you a mind reader?’ And I said no.” Blake was confused for a second. Then he realized something incredible- this kid didn’t even know of his power! “What are you talking about?” said Jacob. “Yup. I knew it,” said Blake. Then he turned around and screamed across the cafeteria. “MIKE!” Mike was Blake’s best friend. He was the only one who knew about Blake’s power. “Watch this,” said Blake. There was silence at first. Then all of a sudden, Jacob said, “What’s your problem?” “What?” said Mike, confused. “He called my mom a-” started Jacob. “Language,” said Blake. “See? He doesn’t even know it!” It took Mike a second. Then he got it. They were able to convince Jacob of his powers. They warned him to keep it a secret. The next day, there was a knock at Blake’s door at 4 in the morning. Blake trudged over to it and opened it. A swarm of media came in, with cameras flashing and tapes rolling. Then Blake realized what had happened- Jacob had spilled the secret. Blake and Jacob were locked up by the government to be used to discover enemy’s war strategies, and were never seen by anyone again. its a short story and i had to keep it under two pages so thats why its such a short ending
What do u think of these 911 conspiracy theories & debunks? The main conspiracy points put forward are outlined below. (These points are in no particular order) Conspiracy 1) The George W Bush administration conspired to either organize the attacks or, at the very least, allowed them to take place. The evidence for this, conspirators argue, comes in the form of a policy document - Rebuilding America's Defenses: Strategy, Forces and Resources for a New Century (pdf, size: 852KB) (external link to newamericancentury.org) - which was written a year before 9/11. The report was authored by leading members of the Bush administration under the name of The Project for the New American Century (Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz, Jeb Bush were contributors to this report, according to UK Channel 4 documentary 'The 9/11 Conspiracies', broadcast 9/9/2004). The report says that it would only be possible to fully secure America's defenses in the world if there was a 'catastrophic' or 'catalyzing event', 'such as a Pearl Harbor'. Michael Moore's movie Fahrenheit 911 argues that the Bush presidency used 911 to radically increase powers at home and to increase a climate of fear, so that it could wage wars which will increase America's influence in other areas - American business has much to gain from the reconstruction and oil in Iraq. In a meeting after 11th September, Bush was keen to find a connection with Iraq so that it could be attacked. Counter: There is a report, and it does say these things (page 63), but does it mean that these people therefore engineered 9/11? This is seen as a smoking gun by many conspirators, and even for skeptics this is quite a strange report. The counter must be that the George W Bush administration would be absolute monsters to do it. After 9/11 they pretty much did react in the way set out in the report, which could be seen as an understandable reaction if they felt the country was under attack. Iraq never had anything to do with 9/11. Conspiracy 2) President George W Bush, or those in his Administration, stood down air defenses on September 11, 2001. According to the conspiracy argument, in the year before 9/11, commercial airlines went off-course 57 times and in each case they were given an airforce escort. Where were the airforce on 9/11? If there was such an order it would have had to come from at least Vice President level. Counter: The 9/11 Commission looked into this and did not find evidence of a stand down order. Embarrassingly for the USA, however, this investigation revealed that the USA was particularly vulnerable on 9/11 to this type of attack. As part of the peace dividend, following the collapse of the Berlin Wall and Communism, savings were made to the airforce cover provided inside the USA. The emphasis was more on preventing an attack from abroad, not from inside the US itself. So, airforce cover had been shut down as a long term policy, rather than told to stand down specifically for these attacks. (Where does the assertion that, 57 times before 9/11, the airforce did provide cover come from?) Conspiracy 3) The Pentagon attack. The Pentagon was not even hit by flight 77, but was hit by a missile under US orders. The impact crater in the Pentagon was only 18 feet wide, but it had just been hit by a Boeing 757 which has a wing span of 125 feet and a tail 40ft high! There was also little wreckage. The US (or Soviets, or UFO) must have bombed it with a missile, surely? Counter: Many credible eyewitnesses saw a Boeing 757 hit the Pentagon. Security camera footage (from which the still, above, is taken), which was used by those putting forward this conspiracy argument, missed flight 77 actually hitting the Pentagon, it just sees the explosion (it also doesn't show a missile hitting the Pentagon either by the way). The plane hit the building at some 500 miles an hour, the subsequent inferno burnt up the plane which explains why hardly any wreckage was found. Evidence: To see the video (released under the Public Information Act 16th May 2006, click here (.wmv format)) to see all the frames from this video click here. Conspiracy 4) The sudden collapse of the Twin Towers. Conspirators say that a steel framed high rise building has never collapsed before just because of fire. The collapse is consistent with a controlled demolition. Did US agents plant explosive charges to maximize the death toll? Counter: The Twin Towers of the World Trade Center were designed in the 1960's to withstand either a hit from an airplane or fire, but this attack was both together. Leslie Robertson, Structural Engineer of the World Trade Center: "There is no evidence there was a bomb inside." The planes were filled with fuel and this set off a chain reaction in the buildings which caused the damage. Conspiracy 4b) We have seen arguments that the following footage shows a controlled explosion (video: wmv rm). We just don't see it that way. A controlled demolition would have required an explosion from the bottom, all this video shows is the tower collapsing from above. It is said that you can hear a large bang (the commentator refers to it) but that could easily have come from the beginning of the collapse at the top of the structure. Conspiracy 4c) We have also heard arguments that the top-down collapse of the mainly steel Twin Towers can be compared to a controlled explosion of a brick and mortar building, as seen in this example (wmv rm). Trouble is, the Twin Towers did not collapse like the second controlled demolition example in this video. In the controlled demolition example the explosive charge is set at the base of the structure (you can't see it explode because there are buildings in the way), the explosion then starts off a domino type effect and the entire structure collapses downwards. The Twin Towers collapsed from the top down, not bottom-up like in a controlled explosion. Conspiracy 4d) We have also heard it alleged that the secret services have hushed up satellite images which apparently show a heat source at Ground Zero, after the collapse of the building. The conspiracy says that it was this (additional) heat source that enabled the Twin Towers to collapse in the way that they did. However, following the high heat required to destroy the towers from the aircraft filled with fuel, we would expect to see a heat image following the collapse of the building, and don't see that this proves there was an additional heat source put there to create the controlled demolition. Conspiracy 5) Israeli agents knew of the 9/11 attacks in advance but did nothing to try to stop them, hoping it could be used to their advantage against the Arabs. A group of men in a van were seen apparently celebrating when they saw the Twin Towers being attacked. They were arrested by police. The police were suspicious. They found dual passports, $4000 cash in a sock. At least one of the men was Israeli secret service who refused to take a lie detector test for 10 weeks. Counter: This opened up a conflict between Israel and the USA. The USA seemed to be unaware that Israel were spying on them. The men were not charged, apparently on the condition that Israel stops spying on the USA. There is no evidence that Israeli secret service had any information on 9/11 before it happened. Conspiracy 6) Similar to Conspiracy 5) but the House of Saud were behind the 9/11 attacks in the hope that the USA would then take action against the growing fundamentalism which is particularly destabilizing for them in Saudi Arabia. Immediately after 9/11, charter flights crisscrossed the USA picking up high ranking Saudis including many bin laden family members to enable them to leave the country. Surely they were material witnesses who should at least have been questioned? This is alleged to be part of a cover up as there are close family/business ties between the Bush family and the House of Saud. Conspiracy 7) Al Qaeda used the stock market to make money out of the 9/11 attacks. Suspicious short selling was observed in the airline companies involved in the attacks, which meant that someone somewhere profited when the price of the airlines involved in the attacks fell sharply when the stock exchange reopened. Counter: The 9/11 Commission investigated all trades and found no links to Al Qaeda. There are millions of trades outstanding at any time in a market the size of Wall Street. It is unlikely that Al Qaeda would be able to do this without it being traced back to them as the market is highly regulated (highly auditable WHO DO YOU BELIEVE?

Looking for a Japanese styled game like "Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom"...? I played a game a little while back called "Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom", its a SimCity-like strategy game based in China where you build everything up from scratch, and complete goals to have a successfully running village, etc. I loved the concept of this game, but want to know if there is a game like this but set in Japan (but in the English language)? If anyone could point me in the right direction, either with a name or a link, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks and take care everyone, Kai
AUTISM Isolated in worlds of their own, people with autism appear indifferent and remote and are unable to form emotional bonds with others. Although people with this baffling brain disorder can display a wide range of symptoms and disability, many are incapable of understanding other people's thoughts, feelings, and needs. Often, language and intelligence fail to develop fully, making communication and social relationships difficult. Many people with autism engage in repetitive activities, like rocking or banging their heads, or rigidly following familiar patterns in their everyday routines. Some are painfully sensitive to sound, touch, sight, or smell. Children with autism do not follow the typical patterns of child development. In some children, hints of future problems may be apparent from birth. In most cases, the problems become more noticeable as the child slips farther behind other children the same age. Other children start off well enough. But between 18 and 36 months old, they suddenly reject people, act strangely, and lose language and social skills they had already acquired. As a parent, teacher, or caregiver you may know the frustration of trying to communicate and connect with children or adults who have autism. You may feel ignored as they engage in endlessly repetitive behaviors. You may despair at the bizarre ways they express their inner needs. And you may feel sorrow that your hopes and dreams for them may never materialize. But there is help-and hope. Gone are the days when people with autism were isolated, typically sent away to institutions. Today, many youngsters can be helped to attend school with other children. Methods are available to help improve their social, language, and academic skills. Autism is found in every country and region of the world, and in families of all racial, ethnic, religious, and economic backgrounds. Emerging in childhood, it affects about 3 or 4 people in every thousand and is three to four times more common in boys than girls. Girls with the disorder, however, tend to have more severe symptoms and lower intelligence. THE TOLE is dedicated to understanding the workings and inter-relationships of the various regions of the brain, and to developing preventive measures and new treatments for disorders like autism that handicap people in school, work, and social relationships and brain damage or vegetable. What is ADHD? ADHD often prevents children from learning and socializing well. Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and attention deficit disorder (ADD) refer to a range of problem behaviors associated with poor attention span. These may include impulsiveness, restlessness and hyperactivity, as well as inattentiveness, and often prevent children from learning and socializing well. ADHD is sometimes referred to as hyper kinetic disorder. What are the symptoms of ADHD Attention difficulties A child must have exhibited at least six of the following symptoms for at least six months to an extent that is unusual for their age and level of intelligence. Fails to pay close attention to detail or makes careless errors during work or play. Fails to finish tasks or sustain attention in play activities. Seems not to listen to what is said to him or her. Fails to follow through instructions or to finish homework or chores (not because of confrontational behavior or failure to understand instructions). Disorganized about tasks and activities. Avoids tasks like homework that require sustained mental effort. Loses things necessary for certain tasks or activities, such as pencils, books or toys. Easily distracted. Forgetful in the course of daily activities. Hyperactivity A child must have exhibited at least three of the following symptoms for at least six months to an extent that is unusual for their age and level of intelligence. Runs around or excessively climbs over things Unduly noisy in playing, or has difficulty in engaging in quiet leisure activities. Leaves seat in classroom or in other situations where remaining seated is expected. Fidgets with hands or feet or squirms on seat. Impulsivity At least one of the following symptoms must have persisted at least for six months to an extent that is unusual for their age and level of intelligence. Blurts out answers before the questions have been completed. Fails to wait in lines or await turns in games or group situations. Interrupts or intrudes on others, e.g. jump into others conversations or games. Talks excessively without appropriate response to social restraint. Pervasiveness of attention difficulties and hyperactivity For a diagnosis or description of ADHD a child would be expected to show the above difficulties in more than one setting, e.g. at school and at home. Problems are not shown 'at home' but are very evident when a child goes to a hospital department. This can happen when parents do not realize that their child's behavior is out of the normal range (perhaps because they have no other children, or they have other children who behave similarly). It may also be because the problems are mild, or because the family has handled the attention lack at home in such a way that it is not evident there is a major problem, or because the child is very young. In those cases it is quite reasonable for parents not to consider that their child has an attention deficit problem. These conditions has a good chance to be treated, it will take time and effort to do it. The Tole's way of remedies for them is not easy and tedious, the good part is it works with many of them. Some adults that just have AD should be able to recovers too with our Remedies. The Tole's Brain Powder Autism ADHD Treatment for all special kids Treatment. Fails to finish tasks or sustain attention in play activities. Seems not to listen to what is said to him or her. Fails to follow through instructions or to finish homework (not because of confrontational behavior or failure to understand instructions). Disorganized about tasks and activities. Avoids tasks like homework that require sustained mental effort. Loses things necessary for certain tasks or activities, such as pencils, books or toys. Easily distracted. Forgetful in the course of daily activities. autism- Hyperactivity A child must have exhibited at least three of the following symptoms for at least three months to an extent that is unusual for their age and level of intelligence. Runs around or excessively climbs over things. (In adolescents or adults only feelings of restlessness may occur.) Unduly noisy in playing, or has difficulty in engaging in quiet leisure activities. Leaves seat in classroom or in other situations where remaining seated is expected. Fidgets with hands or feet or squirms on seat. autism ADHD Impulsivity At least one of the following symptoms must have persisted at least for three months to an extent that is unusual for their age and level of intelligence: Blurts out answers before the questions have been completed. Fails to wait in lines or await turns in games or group situations. Interrupts or intrudes on others, likes to jump into others conversations or games. Talks excessively without appropriate response to social restraint. ADHD or Others causes Epileptic seizures can cause a child to become drowsy, impairing their attention. Epilepsy can also cause unusual behavior and lead to abnormal perceptions. Hearing problems such as deafness or glue ear can make it hard for a child to follow instructions and make them appear inattentive. Reading problems, making it hard to complete tasks or follow instructions. Obsessive compulsive disorder leads to people following strange rituals that preoccupy their thoughts and distract their attention. Tourette's syndrome involves repetitive, involuntary jerking movements of the body and sudden outbursts of noise or swearing. Autism and Asperger's syndrome often lead to difficulties in understanding and using language. Prolonged periods of insufficient sleep, causing poor concentration. Some children may be very active or be easily distracted or have difficulty concentrating. If these behaviours are relatively mild, they should not be considered a disorder. Others difficulties that occurs alongside Autism ADHD ADHD often occurs alongside other difficulties and is not the sole cause of problem behavior. Children may exhibit temper tantrums, sleep disorders, and be clumsy. Other behavioral problems that occur with ADHD include: confrontational defiant behavior, which occurs in most of these kids. The child loses their temper, argues and refuses to comply with adults and deliberately annoys others. conduct disorders occur in at least 25 per cent of children. The child may be destructive or show deceitful behavior such as lying, breaking rules and stealing. specific learning difficulties, including dyslexia, occur in 25-30 per cent of children. severe clinical depression occurs in about 30 per cent of children. anxiety disorders occur in 30 per cent of children. What causes ADHD? Biological Temperamental, as this contributes to their attitude and personality. Twins suggest a genetic link to ADHD. In 80-90 per cent of identical twins where one has ADHD so does the other. Recent research also suggests there is a greater chance of inheriting the condition from male relatives such as grandfathers and uncles. Brain injuries due to birth trauma or pre-birth problems. The brain structures believed to be linked to the development of ADHD are vulnerable to hypoxic damage during birth. The damage is caused by inadequate oxygen (QI flow) reaching parts of the brain while blood flow is reduced. Environmental conditions: Family stress. Educational difficulties. ADHD diagnosis Observations to the assessment of a child with possible ADHD. There is no single diagnostic test for ADHD so different sorts of information needs to be gathered, such as the following: History of symptoms The precise nature of the difficulties, when they were first noticed, in what situations they occur, factors that exacerbate or relieve them. Medical history Risk factors that could predispose the child to ADHD include difficulties and risks in pregnancy and during birth, for example if the mother was in poor health, very young or drank alcohol or smoked or had an extended or complicated labor. Several medical conditions are known to be associated with ADHD. These include fragile-X syndrome, fetal alcohol syndrome, G6PD deficiency, phenylketonuria and generalized resistance to thyroid hormone. Accidents, operations and chronic medical conditions such as epilepsy, asthma and heart, liver and kidney disorders all need to be taken in to account. Also of possible relevance is any medication the child is taking, as well as any adverse reactions they have had to medication in the past. Past psychiatric history: Enquiring about any mental health problems the child has had can help rule out depression or anxiety being behind the symptoms. Educational history: This means the level of their ability and what specific difficulties they have, how they function within their peer group and get on with teachers, and any behavior difficulties such as suspensions or exclusions. Family history: The mental and physical health of the child's parents and other family members can be relevant, particularly regarding the incidence of ADHD or depression. Less then 1% ahs the family history but this is one of the research data base. Social assessment: The family's social circumstances, such as housing, poverty, and social support may all have an impact on the child's behavior. Less then 4 % has this problem but it should be taken into consideration. What treatment is available for ADHD? There is NO straight treatment in the western way excepts general guidelines to manage a child's problematic behavior, THE TOLE has developed a NEURO treatment for these special kids. A new kind of politics? http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-0704060020apr06,1,1855420.story?coll=chi-news-hed&?track=sto-topstory MEXICANS IN CHICAGO: A NEW KIND OF POLITICS Influence on both sides of the border Activists' political power is rising in Chicago and their homeland, as they seek reforms through marches and money Advertisement By Antonio Olivo and Oscar Avila Tribune staff reporters April 6, 2007 To outsiders, the men and women gathered inside a sleepy West Side restaurant may have seemed unlikely power brokers: a janitor, a real estate agent and others hardly known outside their circuit of neighborhood dances and back-yard barbecues. Jose Luis Gutierrez, who plotted strategy with the group as a soccer match flickered on a nearby TV, was himself a wholesale grocer until last year. But Gutierrez is now a top aide to Gov. Rod Blagojevich, and he was joined at the table by leaders of Chicago-area Mexican immigrant clubs, the engines behind a new political movement that is making itself felt from Illinois to Michoacan. Gutierrez received smiling nods when he likened the political muscle of the region's 563,000 Mexican immigrants to the power of Irish-Americans in the 19th and 20th Centuries, who came to control the Chicago machine. In May, the strength of Mexicans will be on display when many of the region's 300 immigrant clubs -- known as "hometown associations" -- will help organize a march in downtown Chicago a year after their political coming-out party, demonstrations that flooded the Loop last spring and charged the national immigration debate. For decades Mexican hometown associations have functioned as social networks whose members pooled their money earned here to help build new schools or churches back in Mexico. But leaders in Chicago's largest immigrant group have a more ambitious worldview than their predecessors, even more than the ethnic blocs that preceded them decades ago. Some, like Gutierrez, wield growing influence in both countries. One morning, he's unveiling a blueprint for more immigrant services in Illinois as director of the state's Office of New Americans Policy and Advocacy. The next night, he's brainstorming with activists in his home state of Michoacan about a slate of candidates for Mexico's congress. An active role in Mexican politics might seem at odds with building political influence here. But Gutierrez and others say they form a budding new political consciousness among Mexican immigrants -- a "third nation" of sorts that transcends the border, advancing the community's cause on both sides. "The nation-state concept is changing," said Gutierrez, 46, who came to Chicago in 1986 and led one of the Midwest's largest federations of hometown associations. "You don't have to say, `I am Mexican,' or, `I am American.' You can be a good Mexican citizen and a good American citizen and not have that be a conflict of interest. Sovereignty is flexible." That concept worries some U.S. officials and scholars who see the dual loyalty as undermining the assimilation of Mexican immigrants. Irish, German and Polish immigrants eventually melded into Chicago's landscape, their ties to their native soil largely sentimental. But Mexican immigrants today are linked to their homeland like no group before, scholars say, connected by NAFTA, satellite TV, the Internet, cell phones and cheap non-stop flights. In Mexico, their power stems from the nearly $25 billion these immigrants send home every year, the country's second-highest source of income behind oil. Their political influence surfaces in places like Teloloapan, far up in the cactus-filled hills of the state of Guerrero, where a Chicago restaurateur helped build new roads and business. Grateful townspeople elected him mayor in a landslide. In the U.S., immigrants' power is driven by numbers and a growing deftness at the levers of this country's political machinery. That recently manifested itself in a fledgling political action committee called Mexicans for Political Progress, which raised $23,000 for Blagojevich's re-election and rallied volunteers to walk precincts during November's election. An unfolding movement Fabian Morales, a soft-spoken Realtor with a well-clipped mustache, stands at the center of the unfolding movement. He handled logistics for three massive immigration marches in Chicago last year -- including a four-day walk to suburban Batavia -- and co-founded Mexicans for Political Progress. After coming to Chicago in 1970, Morales helped launch one of the city's then-few hometown clubs, devoted to his tiny native village of Xonacatla, Guerrero. Back then, Xonacatla was without roads, potable water or electricity. It was a slow journey from other towns by foot or horseback, Morales said. The club members in Chicago resolved to change that. Collecting $50 to $100 at a time, Morales and others raised enough through barbecues and door-to-door soliciting to replace a house used for worship services with a towering marble church that rises from the green hillside. Morales has since helped develop CONFEMEX, an umbrella organization for most of the hometown clubs in the Midwest. Among other things, the group is a central voice in economic development in Mexico, representing an estimated $340 million in projects generated by U.S.-based hometown associations in the last five years, according to Mexican federal officials. "We want to focus on creating more jobs there so they don't have to think about emigrating," Morales said. The rising activity of hometown associations caught the eye of the Mexican government, which eventually created a "3-for-1" matching project, where federal, state and local governments split the cost of a new bridge or computer center with the U.S.-based groups. Those projects have given Mexican immigrants "a great moral authority" in their homeland, as well as political cachet, said Carlos Gonzalez, executive director of the Institute for Mexicans in the Exterior, or IME, a Mexican federal government agency that fosters stronger ties with expatriates. "During the 1970s, [Mexicans] called the people who left Mexico and acclimated to the U.S. 'pocho,' which, if you look in the dictionary, means 'spoiled fruit,' " Gonzalez said. "The change we've seen in the public perception of Mexicans in the exterior has been 180 degrees." In 2006, citizens abroad were allowed to vote in Mexican presidential elections for the first time. Leaders are also pushing for changes that would allow expatriates to vote in local elections and even hold elective offices while residing abroad. Recently, Gutierrez and others persuaded Michoacan to become the first state in Mexico to extend voting rights to expatriates. Their rationale: Almost half of those born in Michoacan, Zacatecas and several other Mexican states now live in the U.S. Timoteo "Alex" Manjarrez, 44, is among a small but growing number of Mexican immigrants making a bolder claim in their motherland. Arriving from his native town of Teloloapan, Guerrero, in 1980, Manjarrez spent 19 years in Chicago. The stocky, boyish-looking immigrant worked for years as a dishwasher at the Columbia Yacht Club and, eventually, became owner of three Mexican restaurants in the city. Fulfilling a desire shared by many immigrants, Manjarrez moved back to his native town in 1999 with enough money for his family to live comfortably. But the place he had longed for all those years was still frustratingly poor, despite the investments Manjarrez's hometown club made in new roads and other improvements. Manjarrez, who holds both Mexican and U.S. citizenship, settled in and quickly built a new health club and a hacienda-style restaurant named La Condesa, after the three he still owns in Chicago. In 2004, he ran for mayor of Teloloapan. With long-distance backing from his hometown club friends in Chicago, who sent money and telephoned friends and local officials on his behalf, Manjarrez won handily. 'The city that works' Since taking office, the man who sees Mayor Richard M. Daley as a political role model has pushed to remake Teloloapan into a Mexican version of "the city that works." The effort includes newly paved streets, a recreation center that replaces a local swamp known as "black waters," and a towering hotel being built privately by Manjarrez's family. Next to a new medical clinic, a donated Chicago ambulance sits in the parking lot. Its emblem has been painted over, but it serves as a reminder of the continued links Manjarrez has to his former city, where he maintains a home near Midway Airport, votes in U.S. elections and checks in on his businesses. Aurelio Santamaria Bahena, mayor of a town near Manjarrez's called Tlapehuala, labeled such changes "a blessing" for an area of Mexico dominated by crumbling lean-to houses and children in bare feet pulling bone-thin donkeys. But, as with other parts of the country where the immigrant handprint is deepening, the introduction of U.S.-style governance has also bred resentment. Local leaders of Manjarrez's own Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD) are trying to drum him out of office, arguing he is too brash and condescending. The mayor counters the fight is about his efforts to take away "a plate of corruption that they've been able to eat from for years." The conflict was an uncomfortable backdrop during a recent PRD strategy meeting at a restaurant in Chilpancingo, Guerrero's capital. Headlines that morning featured a march against Manjarrez, orchestrated by his opponents. "People see you as an outsider," a worried Santamaria cautioned Manjarrez. "People don't think you see things as they are here." Manjarrez, wearing a black "La Condesa" windbreaker, patted his friend on the back and smiled. He had a media plan, one that might have made Daley proud. "We'll publish photos of the streets of Teloloapan before and after I came into office," Manjarrez said. "And, we'll ask the people: `Which would you prefer?' " That same week, Mexican immigrants from the U.S. and Canada met in Mexico City, as members of an advisory council created by the Mexican government. With a brash American style, they soon escalated their advice to demands, the members' voices echoing through the meeting hall. Morales, the Chicago Realtor, and about 100 other council members pushed Mexico to lobby the U.S. harder on immigration reform. They chastised their hosts for not creating more jobs. Buttonholing federal legislators in hallways, they reminded elected officials how much their districts relied on money sent from the U.S. They want 'results now' Gregorio Luke, a blond member of the council from Los Angeles partial to designer suits, observed that this kind of behavior wouldn't exist in a purely Mexican forum, where deference toward authority guides nearly all dialogue. "These people come here speaking Spanish, but they're negotiating as Americans," said Luke, a museum director who once oversaw cultural affairs at the Los Angeles Mexican Consulate. "They want to see results now." The meeting of the advisory council also illustrated the provocative overlap of Mexican and American political action. In addition to all-day strategy sessions on how to improve Mexico, council members brainstormed over late-night drinks on next moves in the fight for U.S. immigration reform. Many members had used their existing e-mail network to coordinate simultaneous demonstrations in Chicago, Los Angeles and other cities. Though not active participants in the U.S. immigrant movement, Mexican officials urged their compatriots to keep on fighting. "Let there be no barriers or walls between Mexicans here on the inside and the outside," former Mexican President Vicente Fox told the group, referring to a 2006 U.S. law that allows for a 700-mile fence to be built at the border. The audience stood and cheered. The idea that the Mexican government might be helping its nationals shape U.S. politics has raised red flags, both in the halls of academia and in the more volatile world of talk radio and the Internet. Robert Leiken, director of the immigration and national security program at the right-leaning Nixon Center in Washington, argued that binational activism among Mexican immigrants is bad for both countries. In the U.S., the meetings in Spanish and the often-passionate interest in Mexico's future hinder assimilation, he said. In Mexico, the relationship to hometown associations fosters an unhealthy economic dependence on U.S. remittances. "If I went out to Pilsen and spent some time with people from a hometown association, I'd think these are really cool people," Leiken said. But, "Standing back and looking at this from a social policy standpoint, I see some real problems." James McCann, a Purdue University political science professor, found that immigrants interested in Mexican affairs were more likely to participate in U.S. politics. He helped interview about 1,100 Mexican immigrants and found that hometown clubs promoted activism. "The conventional wisdom is that any transnational engagement is going to suck the oxygen out of your civic life in the States," McCann said. "But it seems that if you open a new avenue of expression in Mexico, that new avenue might pay some other dividends in the U.S." Some of those dividends went directly to the Blagojevich campaign last fall, when the governor found himself being serenaded by a trumpet-playing mariachi band inside the Hacienda Tecalitlan restaurant on the Near Northwest Side. Near a trickling courtyard fountain, Morales praised the governor in Spanish at the kickoff dinner for the Mexicans for Political Progress PAC. While Morales once raised money for his hometown with $1 tamales, the price here was as much as $500 a plate. "Let us demonstrate our political power by voting in the election, by voting for our friends interested in the prosperity of Mexicans. Friends like Gov. Rod Blagojevich!" Morales told the crowd. Blagojevich, who speaks a hint of Spanish, took the microphone and shouted: "Viva Chivas!" a reference to a popular Mexican soccer team. When the laughter and applause subsided, he switched to English and added: "By organizing, you are empowering a community. Your voice will be heard." The mood is darker in northwest suburban Carpentersville, where a growing Mexican community has rallied in large numbers in the face of a local backlash against undocumented immigrants. Last fall, about 3,000 Mexican immigrants and their supporters turned up outside Carpentersville's City Hall in an unexpected show of opposition to a proposed ordinance that would penalize landlords who rent to illegal immigrants and employers who hire them. The crowd was so riled a vote on the ordinance was postponed and has yet to be taken. The quick response came largely due to the hometown association representing the village of La Purisima, Michoacan, local activists said. The club turned to its telephone list of 400 families, said Salvador Balleno, the group's president. The turnout was a victory, but it has not deterred Carpentersville trustees from other proposals that would allow local police to trigger deportation proceedings against illegal immigrants and make English the village's official language. And as Balleno has struggled to register voters and rally volunteers for this month's village elections, even sympathetic politicians have seemed hesitant to link themselves too closely with the hometown association. Balleno now fears the village's hard-liners have the upper hand, intimidating some of the immigrants who protested last fall. "The [club] members know that if these people stay [in office] it is going to affect their kids," Balleno said, sounding anxious that an opportunity was slipping through his fingers. Jose Artemio Arreola, a key organizer of next month's march in Chicago, has been actively monitoring the battle in Carpentersville. He sees the activity there as part of a plan to create a political empire for Mexican immigrants, one linking hometown associations in Chicago and other cities to labor unions and Mexico's congress. His strategy includes moving back to his native state of Michoacan to run for congress there, something Arreola never imagined doing when he left a town overrun by poverty and ruled by local drug kingpins. He got his start in Chicago working in a plastics factory. Frustrated by the union representation there, he ran for shop steward and won. Unable to speak English, he relied on his bilingual co-workers to help him negotiate union contracts. He has since become a school janitor in Oak Park. The position pays little, but it has allowed Arreola to climb the ranks of the Service Employees International Union, where he has become key in that union's national efforts to tap further into the country's exploding Mexican immigrant workforce. All the while, Arreola has used the sharp elbows and old-school union tactics acquired in Chicago to become a power broker in his hometown of Acuitzio del Canje. He started in 2004 when the local mayor refused to back projects proposed by his hometown association. Arreola, a burly backslapper partial to gold neck chains, recalled thinking: "I need to take them out." He recruited a teacher to run for mayor in the Mexican town. Arreola then brought back a town phone book and, with others in Chicago, called voters one by one, promising a stream of U.S. investment if his candidate won. The incumbent opted for traditional rallies and car tours through town with a bullhorn. More than two years later, sitting in a Pilsen restaurant, Arreola opened a laptop computer and showed off the fruits of what proved to be an easy victory. Pictures of a new retirement home popped onto the screen, one featuring a grinning Arreola at a groundbreaking ceremony. Another showed a new computer lab with 40 computers for local schoolchildren, an investment in the future of Acuitzio del Canje. The town's name comes from an 1865 decision to make it the site for a "canje," or exchange of prisoners between warring Mexican and French troops. Sitting deep in the dusty mountains of Michoacan, it was neutral ground back then, Arreola explained, territory that didn't fully belong to either country but, in some ways, belonged to both. ---------- aolivo@tribune.com oavila@tribune.com - - - IN THE WEB EDITION Jose Artemio Arreola is one of several Mexican hometown association leaders in Chicago with multiple connections in Mexico and the U.S. From helping organize last year's massive immigration marches to slating political candidates in his home state, he wields influence on both sides of the border. Help on First Gaming PC? Hello! I am in need of assistance. I am going to build a budget gaming PC. I am aiming for something that does not push $500 (US). I am taking parts from my old PC which are the hard drive (WD 160GB 7200 RPM), the operating system (Windows XP 32bit), the mouse, the keyboard, and the CD and DVD ROMs. I already have a monitor (Samsung T240HD 24" 1920 by 1200). I want to play strategy games like Sins of a Solar Empire and Age of Empires III. I already picked (haven't bought it yet) a case Antec 300, which looks good (looks aren't that important to me) and has some great reviews. Newegg.com - Antec Three Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Computer Cases I want to go Intel on the processor. Duo or Quad core? I want some future proof. Q8200 vs E8400 On motherboards, I heard that Gigabyte and Asus are great companies to choose from. I was thinking about getting 2x2GB of RAM but not sure what brand and what speed (1066 or whatever) On graphic cards, I seriously have no idea taking in consideration my budget and my monitor. I heard about the HD4870 and the GTX260 and the 9800 GT...... PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CRITICIZE ME ON ANYTHING OR GIVE IDEAS/QUESTIONS AND PLEASE POST LINKS ESPECIALLY IF THEY LEAD TO NEWEGG.COM WHICH IS WHERE I WILL MOST LIKELY GET MY PARTS. Thanks a lot!!!!! P.S. I will upgrade the OS and hard drive and CD/DVD ROMs later if needed.
isnt this copied? The Epic has begun to end The grand destruction incident of September 11, 2001 (which wrote the awesome opening chapters of millennium epic) and the upcoming incident of 2008 Beijing Olympics (which is being marketed as an epic in itself) have a common link as far as their target is concerned. I would not like to keep the suspense go on to the last line keeping you guess what their target is. The target is simply the power politics which could retain their esteem as an unopposed world power in the future. Don’t you think they are interlinked in this manner with each other if not on their conduct as the former is directly linked to terrorism and the latter to goodwill? Again I am not going to reveal anything about the terror threat to the Beijing Olympics. But like the September 11, Beijing Olympics is also a threat to the world. To know how? You have to go into the past as well as the future. It will not offend me if this idea is bitterly attacked as an affliction of my mind on the first hand. Yet it has got lots of sense to sound sagacious despite its attempt to yoke two identically different magnetic ends by unnatural force though. It may seem, in view of general perception, out of sync on the surface when we keep in mind the crucial ends of the terror-torn Arab world and the divisible Asian society under inimical issues like unresolved border-disputes, religious fundamentalism, transborder terrorism and overlooking of the global fears to protect the planet. However, a keen sight, which must be seriously taken into account as an effect to see through the deceptive surface to x-ray the credibility behind acts backed by both America and China under the shadow of above stated events, can help us understand the sacred gameplan to sweep the world order under their sceptre in near future. The U.S. after the crash of twin towers celebrated the pro-American wave in the whole world. It got support even from those countries which had always seen it as an imperialistic state—a state that could prove as a threat in number of ways like economic, diplomatic and cultural. So it was the best time to utilise the moment actually availed by destiny. America squandered no time and deployed its forces in Afghanistan with the help of Pakistan to paralyse the Taliban regime and Al Qaeda network. Everyone knew it was like a trout fighting against the mighty shark whale. But the U.S. strategy was something different. It wanted to establish its permanent base in Asia and there could be no place as perfect as Afghanistan is. From there it is capable to keep a closer vigilance on its adversaries—Russia, India, and above all China. It was also necessary from America’s point of view as the nuclear arms race in Asian countries and their undeterred arsenals had unveiled the inability of American security agencies. Its espionage agencies had been a laughing stock for the world community after they had failed to suspect India for its nuclear tests conducted at Pokharan in 1998 during AB Vajpayee’s regime. Later on Pakistan also followed the suit, although it’s a different question that America did not try to stop it deliberately after having known the reality. So what could have been the best time than the time when there were ready-made pro-American feelings running through the minds all over the globe? It would be ridiculous to regard America’s victory against the Taliban regime as mere victory. Rather it should be called as American occupation of Afghan regions to run its military activities against the Asian giants—China and India—having installed on throne a puppet ruler, Hamid Karzai. It is not just an emotional analysis but truthful comprehension. If it was not so, why is America prolonging its stay in that part? Do you really think that America has been facing problems in the hills to track down the remaining Taliban supporters? In fact America does not want to track them down so instantly so that it could stay there and have installations to serve its anti-Asian agenda to enfeeble the biggest continent. It is everything under the impression of September 11 pretence. Having faced no problems in Afghanistan it was time to create pressure on Iraq and more directly on Saddam Hussein and its Bath party which had crammed the minds of Iraqis with anti-American sentiments. It had been for long a nuisance to the U.S. So the Bush administration in view of undeterred intrusion in Afghanistan started imputing Saddam for keeping weapons of mass extermination. It sent the UN officials to Baghdad to find out traces of such kind. But it led to no clues as America had been bragging to get the international favour. Finally it launched attack on Iraq with its cronies under wide international opposition. The U.S., however, found no weapons of mass destruction on whose basis it had waged a war against Iraq. Now Saddam has been executed, to the delight of Bush and Blair, the former British premier and Iraq is looming in the dark alleys of uncertainties and militant violence. Thus, the September 11 made America intrude the South Asian region; and further this victory encouraged it to make the Arab world paralyse too. The only difference is that in its first campaign it had pro-American feelings and in its second unpopular campaign anti-American feelings. However, the undeniable fact is it has been successful in utilizing the famous crash whose historical significance moves up to the level of the French Revolution in the world history. It’s the first side of the coin having discussed America’s unruly and arbitrary behaviour after what it experienced on September 11. But don’t we find China keeping on close heels with the U.S. the way it has started exploiting the fruit of 2008 Olympics. China knows the importance of this huge event to be held in Beijing in the summer of 2008. It wants everything accomplished beneath the Olympic apparel that can’t be conducted otherwise without international opposition. To shape its mammoth intentions it started digging its border land skirting India. First of all it built up the railway line penetrating Tibetan region from Shanghai to Lhasa. Now it has announced officially to build up a highway close to the base camp of Himalayan Mt. Everest under the pretence that the Olympic torch will be taken to the highest point. So the highway to Mt. Everest will be constructed in the period of only four months. No doubt, China has displayed its great capability to engineering having built up roads, bridges, skyscrapers, railways in the highest regions, and many other state-of-the-art institutions that the world can envy for. But it does not mean it has attained the unilateral right to play with nature. The projected highway which will straddle upto the base camp of Mt. Everest is posing a great threat to the environment as it will increase the flow of people to that part. We have already observed changes into the Himalayan ecosystem in recent years that are threatening the Asian future. And the Asian future lies in the Indian subcontinent. Most of the rivers—the Indus, the Mekong, the Yangtze, the Yellow, the Salween, the Brahmputra, the Karnali and the Satluj—that flow in this part are fed by the Himalayan snowmelt in the highland. If this highway is built up, it will lead to the warming of Everest. And the water conflict will spur in Asia. Apparently it looks that the highway is just an attempt to throw Asia particularly India into huge water crises in the future. The Olympic Games are just nothing but a storehouse to manipulate its vicious ends. Just think awhile if the torch is not taken to the base camp what difference is it going to make to China’s reputation? Have not there been Games before in other countries? What have they done special to make them historic? Games are played to spread the goodwill message. The goodwill message can only be carried by the thorough involvement of the participants in the games. They are not meant to create conflicts especially by threatening nature. Many Indian experts believe that the highway is a threat to Indian security. But my belief that intuitively portends a bleak future not only for India but for the entire world is instilled in its being inimical for the fragile Himalayan ecosystem. Isn’t China prone to the U.S. in its manhandling the world in order to occupy the power that could retain their status as an unopposed world power in future? If America is disrupting the world order on its past event—the September 11—by creating chaos in the South Asian region and the Arab world, China is disrupting the world especially Asia on its future event—the 2008 Beijing Olympics—by playing wantonly with nature. The former event, undoubtedly, can be considered as the bleak beginnings for a dark epic with its added and against-the-world action in parts of the world. But the latter event, if not confined to its original purpose in time, will surely take this epic not to a tragic dénouement but to a catastrophic one, with no spectator left to experience its “catharsis” (if it is concluded with this Aristotelian term).
Fun Strategy games? I like playing strategy games where you build up an army or something and then you can attack other civilizations or cities. Something like School wars is also very fun. Post links if you know a good game, thanks.

RIP to Bill Walsh? SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Bill Walsh, the groundbreaking football coach who won three Super Bowls and perfected the ingenious schemes that became known as the West Coast offense during a Hall of Fame career with the San Francisco 49ers, has died. He was 75. Walsh died at his Woodside home Monday morning following a long battle with leukemia. "This is just a tremendous loss for all of us, especially to the Bay Area because of what he meant to the 49ers," said Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Montana, the player most closely linked to Walsh's tenure with the team. "For me personally, outside of my dad he was probably the most influential person in my life. I am going to miss him." Walsh didn't become an NFL head coach until 47, and he spent just 10 seasons on the San Francisco sideline. But he left an indelible mark on the United States' most popular sport, building the once-woebegone 49ers into the most successful team of the 1980s with his innovative offensive strategies and teaching techniques. The soft-spoken native Californian also produced a legion of coaching disciples that's still growing today. Many of his former assistants went on to lead their own teams, handing down Walsh's methods and schemes to dozens more coaches in a tree with innumerable branches. ADVERTISEMENT "The essence of Bill Walsh was that he was an extraordinary teacher," NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement. "If you gave him a blackboard and a piece of chalk, he would become a whirlwind of wisdom. He taught all of us not only about football but also about life and how it takes teamwork for any of us to succeed as individuals." Walsh went 102-63-1 with the 49ers, winning 10 of his 14 postseason games along with six division titles. He was named the NFL's coach of the year in 1981 and 1984. Few men did more to shape the look of football into the 21st century. His cerebral nature and often-brilliant stratagems earned him the nickname "The Genius" well before his election to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1993. Walsh twice served as the 49ers' general manager, and George Seifert led San Francisco to two more Super Bowl titles after Walsh left the sideline. Walsh also coached Stanford during two terms over five seasons. Even a short list of Walsh's adherents is stunning. Seifert, Mike Holmgren, Dennis Green, Sam Wyche, Ray Rhodes and Bruce Coslet all became NFL head coaches after serving on Walsh's San Francisco staffs, and Tony Dungy played for him. Most of his former assistants passed on Walsh's structures and strategies to a new generation of coaches, including Mike Shanahan, Jon Gruden, Brian Billick, Andy Reid, Pete Carroll, Gary Kubiak, Steve Mariucci and Jeff Fisher. Walsh created the Minority Coaching Fellowship program in 1987, helping minority coaches to get a foothold in a previously lily-white profession. Marvin Lewis and Tyrone Willingham are among the coaches who went through the program, later adopted as a league-wide initiative. Walsh was diagnosed with leukemia in 2004 and underwent months of treatment and blood transfusions. He publicly disclosed his illness in November 2006. Fellow Hall of Fame coach Marv Levy, who hired Walsh to his first college coaching job, last spoke to him about six weeks ago on the telephone. "I asked him how he was doing, and he said he had come off a certain type of a treatment and he felt much more energy," Levy said. "But he told me then, he said, 'Marv, I don't have long.' He said it honestly. He was vibrant. Understood it. And yet, I was sad to hear it." AP - Jul 30, 3:46 pm EDT More Photos Born William Ernest Walsh on Nov. 30, 1931 in Los Angeles, he was a self-described "average" end and a sometime boxer at San Jose State in 1952-53. Walsh, whose family moved to the Bay Area when he was a teenager, married his college sweetheart, Geri Nardini, in 1954 and started his coaching career at Washington High School in Fremont, leading the football and swim teams. Walsh was coaching in Fremont when he interviewed for an assistant coaching position with Levy, who had just been hired as the head coach at California. "I was very impressed, individually, by his knowledge, by his intelligence, by his personality and hired him," Levy said. After Cal, he did a stint at Stanford before beginning his pro coaching career as an assistant with the AFL's Oakland Raiders in 1966, forging a friendship with Al Davis that endured through decades of rivalry. Walsh joined the Cincinnati Bengals in 1968 to work for legendary coach Paul Brown, who gradually gave complete control of the Bengals' offense to his assistant. Walsh built a scheme based on the teachings of Davis, Brown and Sid Gillman -- and Walsh's own innovations, which included everything from short dropbacks and novel receiving routes to constant repetition of every play in practice. Though it originated in Cincinnati, it became known many years later as the West Coast offense -- a name Walsh never liked or repeated, but which eventually grew to encompass his offensive philosophy and the many tweaks added by Holmgren, Shanahan and other coaches. Much of the NFL eventually ran a version of the West Coast in the 1990s, with its fundamental belief that the passing game can set up an effective running attack, rather than the opposite conventional wisdom. Walsh also is widely credited with inventing or popularizing many of the modern basics of coaching, from the laminated sheets of plays held by coaches on almost every sideline, to the practice of scripting the first 15 offensive plays of a game. After a bitter falling-out with Brown in 1976, Walsh left for stints with the San Diego Chargers and Stanford before the 49ers chose him to rebuild the franchise in 1979. The long-suffering 49ers went 2-14 before Walsh's arrival. They repeated the record in his first season. Walsh doubted his abilities to turn around such a miserable situation -- but earlier in 1979, the 49ers drafted quarterback Joe Montana from Notre Dame. Walsh turned over the starting job to Montana in 1980, when the 49ers improved to 6-10 -- and improbably, San Francisco won its first championship in 1981, just two years after winning two games. Championships followed in the postseasons of 1984 and 1988 as Walsh built a consistent winner and became an icon with his inventive offense and thinking-man's approach to the game. He also showed considerable acumen in personnel, adding Ronnie Lott, Charles Haley, Roger Craig and Rice to his rosters after he was named the 49ers' general manager in 1982 and the president in 1985. Walsh left the 49ers with a profound case of burnout after his third Super Bowl victory in January 1989, though he later regretted not coaching longer. He spent three years as a broadcaster with NBC before returning to Stanford for three seasons. He then took charge of the 49ers' front office in 1999, helping to rebuild the roster over three seasons. But Walsh gradually cut ties with the 49ers after his hand-picked successor as GM, Terry Donahue, took over in 2001. He is survived by his wife, Geri, and two children, Craig and Elizabeth. Walsh's son, Steve, an ABC News reporter, died of leukemia at age 46 in 2002.
What is the colonized mindset? The colonised mindset: The enemy within the African communities. SendMeYourNews Jul 23, 2006 07:12 PDT =+= Get on TheBlackList: http://www.topica.com/lists/TheBlackList "Men who are in earnest are not afraid of consequences", Marcus Garvey. =+= ----- Original Message ----- From: Cheryl Sanchez mailto:sanchez-@hotmail.com To: sendmey-@earthlink.net Sent: Sunday, July 23, 2006 8:48 AM The colonised mindset: The enemy within the African communities. The writer is going to put forward an argument that unless the slave/colonial mindset is recognised as the active enemy, within the African communities world-wide, attempts to understand the social and economic problems will be useless. This mindset has been affecting the individual/family /organisations/community and nations alike. From an early age, adults have been referring to people as having "being colonial or slave minded" in a most benign way. It as if having this mindset is like having a flue. You treat the symptoms and eventually, it should go away, if the immune system is acute and alert. In reality, it is the most virulent psychological condition prevalent amongst African communities. The damage is too enormous to consider in this essay. It has and is still destroying from individuals to revolutions to states eg Patrice Lumumba-Congo, Thomas Sankara-Bukina Faso, Walter Rodney-Guyana, Cabral, Malcolm X and Bantu S Biko to name a few. When foreign money, the lust for power and the colonial mindset met-destruction is sure to follow. Mineral rich DRC remains the most tragic example today. Also Angola before the timely death of Savimbi, " Washington's kept man". Failure to confront and systematically deal with this enemy is equivalent to failure to live and or thrive. HISTORY The disastrous effects of slavery and colonialism on the physical aspect of the Africans in the Americas, the Caribbean and on mainland Africa have been well documented by a host of European and African-American historians including Basil D Davidson, Walter Rodney and Professor Jeffries. Few writers have focused on the debilitating effects of the mindset on the emotions and the psychology as Carter G Woodson( 1875-1950)was probably a pioneer when he addressed this condition in his book - The Mis-Education of the Negro. Later, Dr Na'im Akbar painstakingly outlined the psychological effects in his book- Chains and Images of psychological slavery. Professor Joy Leary recently attempted to put the psychological trauma concept in the public domain during a recent lecture tour in London but, few Africans wanted to even contemplate this concept as an explanation for some of their behaviour towards each other. It is of paramount importance to understand the disastrous reality of the sate accurately described by Woodson and take action to treat it. "When you control a man's thinking you do not have to worry about his actions. You do not have to tell him not to stand there or go yonder. He or she will find his "proper place" and will stay in it. You do not need to send him to the back door. He will go without being told. In fact, if there is no back door, he will cut one for his special benefit. His education makes it necessary". Woodson showed a lot of foresight in his early detection of the destructive side of the slave/colonial mindset. It is a pity that, most Pastors and self-appointed "community" leaders do not recommend this book to the many families who come through their doors. They do not even bothered with a plan of action to treat this mindset. Examples This mindset certainly has a blindfolding effect eg African girls aspiring to be like their "blonde Barbie dolls". African men dream of marrying "a Barbie doll" type of woman as soon as they arrive in Europe and or UK/USA/Canada, so as not to have "too black" children. Michael Jackson's obsession with his costly body- altering project. It also causes US Africans/Afrikans to focus on the body, material gadgets, short cuts. The physical environment of the homes is often out of balance with the people who inhabit the space. Their homes always have a blonde type Jesus on the walls but no other famous Africans like Bantu Biko, Thomas Sankara etc. The African educationalist and parents both on the mainland, Caribbean and the Americas have avoided including or making the early and middle years curricula more relevant to our developmental needs. This opportunity to change our course of history is missed again and again. At organisational level, colonise minded but the super qualified committee members are often afraid to put decolonisation strategy and or Pan-Africanism into the constitution of their organisation. This also affects the type of name or identity they take on. Eg the NAACP-The National Association for the Advancement of "Coloured" people. One would have thought that aparthedist South-Africa racial policies would have caused this organisation to re-think it's chosen but, they not change from NAACP to NAAAP. One could only guess when you start your organisation with white liberals/ or jews in leadership roles, the de-colonisation agenda never became a priority for this organisation. The OAS/AU is no different. It has been in existence for over 50 years and still cannot bring itself to be known as a Pan-Africanist organisation thus, it remains a toothless nationalistic organisation. Even when organisations put Pan-Africanism at the forefront eg PAC in South-African, the de-colonisation process and project, which is necessary for health and longevity of the organisation is not a priority either. Well meaning or naïve activists continue to take a gamble by hoping against hope that, a few committed and reliable people could suddenly change 400 years of psychological damage facing the African worldwide. Things could have been different if, the PAC was able to capture the interest and support of the majority of the 24 million native South-Africans and their rands, to keep the movement financially buoyant and turn it into a political powerful force in South-African society. The mindset nutures self-hating , self- destruction and confidence lowering . This is evident in the practice of self- harming through bleaching the skin, straigthening the hair and looking to Europe and European institutions as saviours. It also makes killing each other almost acceptable. The eminent African-American Bobby E Wright (1984) explained in his book "we have never been trained to kill Europeans" but, we seem to be able kill each other (black on black) violence instinctively. It also makes us have a warped and unrealistic view of our reality. It may cause some, like Dr Kenneth B Clarke to say," race is irrelevant". Even African-America Dr Alvin Poussant, who used his qualification avoid addressing the current colonisation condition. He used his stint in Ebony Magazine to deal with the a few middles class anxieties. What a shame! The Slave/Colonial mindset-the Trojan Horse The Europeans understand how important the psychological warfare project is to their continued hold on Africa, which is why they got their missionaries to influences chiefs and other leaders in Africa, to send their young children to their missionary schools. At these missionary/faith-based schools, young children were indoctrinated on a grand scale. These young children come from cultures where, almost all adults are feared and or certainly not questioned, made the work of the European teachers easier. This is why it should not alarm us or surprise us that, Mobutu, Savimbi and their cronies behaved in the way they did to their own people and their own resources. The mindset, the lust for power and foreign money-from the USA mainly kept them destroying their respective countries, in the name of capitalism and the other G6 powers. The USA officials who paid Savimbi through Mobutu millions and millions of American tax-payers money to literally destroy a revolution and 2 countries, have never been brought to justice. If both of these colonial minded individuals did not die, they would be still destroying the country and squandering their resources for self-aggrandisement, with Washington's approval. The foreign powers/handlers knew millions of people were being tortured, kill, maimed, punished and starved of food and other life necessities, in their interest. Whilst all this was happening in full view of other Africans, many of them in the Caribbean and continued going to the states" to make it". Meanwhile Africans affected by these individuals and American money and foreign policy, eventually started heading for the UK and the USA seeking "refuge". It should not surprise us at the way the Europeans view certain individuals. The American state had to get rid of Malcolm X by any means necessary. The Belgian/USA/UK governments saw Patrice Lumumba as an uncompromising character when it came to his understanding of independence. France could not stomach an independent minded Thomas Sankara who wanted to transform Bukina Faso in the interest of it's people. The apartheid South-Africa did not dare allow Bantu Stephen Biko to live-he was too clear about his position and his understanding of the social/economic/political situation. He wanted all or nothing. Walter Rodney exposed the hypocrisy of Europe's role in Africa-it became a real annoyance in European academic circles. The under-development was the strategy and the means to achieving this outcome was to nurture their own "loyal Africans". Off course the "loyal Africans" are another name for the colonial minded. Rich men and women often have their "kept women" Well, so to rich Europe has their "kept men". France has Francoise Compoare of Bukina Faso. The USA has theirs in the form of Paul Kagame. Spain/USA has Obiang Nguema of Equatorial Guinea- Africa third largest producer of oil. Shell and the UK and other oil companies operating in Nigeria have been keeping the Hausa dominated army and government since 1970. The CIA/USA/France had army man Hissen Habre- a man who was less than friendly to USA's imagined enemy Gadaffi. Chadian named him, "Africa's Pinochet". USA supported the Duvalier family for 30 years and off course Savimbi in Angola. See William Blum(2001) Rogue State. Chapter 17. The Consequences If African thinkers and educationalists alike continue to neglect the content of early and middle years curricula, they would be fighting a losing battle against the slave/colonial mindset, capitalism, fashion and mass-media. The same way, one cannot expect to put new wine in an old wineskin so to, one cannot expect the slave/colonial minded to suddenly change his or her learnt behaviour. This behaviour has been around for the last 350 years. It might have started as, a means of coping in strange and often hostile societies in the Caribbean and America in the late 17th century. Joy Leary would argue African communities must admit the existence of post traumatic syndrome before, the treatment could be sought. No admission means that, this major debilitating psychological condition would linger and fester away. Off course when a few like, Thiongo'o(1938-) changed his behaviour in his adulthood, by going back to his Gikuyu name and writing in his own language rather than English only, is inspirational to rest who remain in this regressive state of mind. He used his book-Decolonising the mind: the politics of language in African literature(1986) as a platform to encourage African challenged about their attitude towards Africa and or NJAC. Ngugi wa writers to write in their own language to make their books more meaningful to Africans on the continent. It is not only about writing in one's own language although, that is a positive start. It is about having a core teaching curricula that could be used world-wide. Even if people write in their own indigenous language but continue to see Europe as the solution to their problems-the colonised mind remains untouched. The writer applauds the work of Haki Madibuti and Dr Karenga and Molefi Asante. The African need more people like the above, if we are to be taken seriously. Why are members of NJAC( National Joint Action committee) and their 36 year old organisation in Trinidad, still viewed as not worthy of support from the majority of African-Trinidadians? The slave/colonial mindset, which makes people ridicule members for re-claiming their African heritage via taking on African names. One can often hear African-Trinidadians and other Africans born abroad saying in a most offensive voice, "I am not African" when asked about their identity. Thai is the colonial mindset expressing their ignorance. What do we begin? The logical place for decolonisation to begin is in the home, with parents taking the lead. The early years 0-11 is the crucial time to inculcate the Afrocentric values. It means that, we have to be prepared to build our own nurseries and create our own culturally inclusive and sensitive curricula. The parents must be re-educated. It is almost pointless waiting until a child becomes an adult, when he may or may not be exposed to Pan-Africanism. All the research available would agree that, the pre-natal and early years are the most important educating years. Ideally, the decolonisation ideals should be embedded in the early years curricula, The Community leaders and families should make attempts to discuss post trauma syndrome and it's effects openly and proactively put into place some short term and long term remedies. 3 African American writers who wrote the The Black Parenting Book did not pursue the de-colonisation project in their book either. There are 17 chapters in this book yet, Pan-Africanism and or the issue of the slave/colonial mindset were not addressed in a very active way. There chapters on Family Traditions and Spirituality without making mention of the importance of Kwanzaa. There was a chapter on " Black and Proud" not African and proud. There should have a chapter on how and why Africans came to self hate and hate all things African. Where did it all begin? The book tackled particular parenting approach, which was used by African American parents but, they did not attempt to give the psychological or economic reasons why most African parents worldwide use the authoritarian model rather than the authoritative model. Authoritarian- powerful, assertive/aggressive (verbally or physically adult leads or makes all the decisions, which are imposed on child. May be highly critical. Parents may be likely to use shouting and hitting. Parents may even talk about "I want you to fear me". Authoritative- Parents use reciprocity and a democratic style, which allows child to lead but establishes safe limits and boundaries. Parents are likely to use encouragement, provide choices and highlight consequences and positive feedback and use time-out and put penalities in place, as part of their disciplining package. It might have been helpful to explain why some African parents use the former than the latter? It would have been more useful to write the book in some African languages and use a work -book with exercises to involve all members of the family. This book could be described as the product of a well meaning qualified but, obviously apolitical professionals. The writers tackled all the symptoms but never ventured near the core causes. They missed an opportunity to focus on the link between the type of the society, which produces such parents focusing on a post-colonial/slave/capitalist, racist society such as the USA. Conclusion. The Decolonisation project and treating post trauma syndrome are as necessary to Africans, as oxygen and water are to humankind existence. Neither can be avoided any longer due to it being "too sensitive" an issue. The message to all the Pan-Africanists/Humanist individuals, families and organisations , which are always short of committed, reliable and discipline foot soldiers is this, put some of your efforts and money into the 0-11 years olds and an African Parenting project, based on an Afrocentric model and treatment for psychological trauma and other self-harming behaviour. If any individual/family or organisation is interested ion the guture well being of Africans- the aforementioned approaches are vital. Otherwise, a plethora of colonial minded and dishonest Pastors from diverse Christian sects, the mass-media, fashion, cars and short term attractions and whatever other European cultural left-overs would grab the minds of the majority of Africans. The slave/colonial mind is dangerous to Pan-Africanist and African humanist alike. Those African "kept men" or Europe's trojan horses will continue the pauperization policies of a very rich continent. They will repeat policies and slogans without even analysing them. They will like the major obstacle to progress, changes, self-empowerment and unification of African peoples. Instead of enabling and building capacities and re-skilling people, they will disable, de-skill and pauperize people. The colonial minded knows nothing else. The Europeans using their white skins as authority continue to pamper and encourage their "kept men" to the detriment of the majority of Africans, who continue to suffer and to be killed with the weapons made in the USA/UK/Israel and other European countries. Is this one reason why people have lost respect for the media & it angers them? Barack Obama's Racist Church If Sen. Obama rejects the Rev. Wright’s warped view of this country, why does he continue to attend his church? Monday, January 7, 2008 10:16 AM By: Ronald Kessler Imagine if Mitt Romney’s church proclaimed on its website that it is “unashamedly white.” The media would pounce, and Romney’s presidential candidacy would be over. Yet that is exactly what Barack Obama’s church says on its web site — except in reverse. “We are a congregation which is unashamedly black and unapologetically Christian,” says the Trinity United Church of Christ’s website in Chicago. “We are an African people and remain true to our native land, the mother continent, the cradle of civilization.” That’s just the beginning. The church has a “non-negotiable commitment to Africa,” according to its website, and its pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. subscribes to what is called the Black Value System. While the Black Value System includes such items as commitment to God, education, and self-discipline, it refers to “our racist competitive society” and includes the disavowal of the pursuit of “middle-classness” and a pledge of allegiance to “all black leadership who espouse and embrace the Black Value System.” It defines “middle-classness” as a way for American society to “snare” blacks rather than “killing them off directly” or “placing them in concentration camps,” just as the country structures “an economic environment that induces captive youth to fill the jails and prisons.” In sermons and interviews, Dr. Wright has equated Zionism with racism and Israel with South Africa under its previous policy of apartheid. On the Sunday after 9/11, Wright said the attacks were a consequence of violent American policies. Four years later, Wright suggested that the attacks were retribution for America’s racism. “In the 21st century, white America got a wake-up call after 9/11/01,” Wright wrote in a church-affiliated magazine. “White America and the western world came to realize that people of color had not gone away, faded into the woodwork or just ‘disappeared’ as the Great White West kept on its merry way of ignoring black concerns.” In one of his sermons, Wright said, “Racism is how this country was founded and how this country is still run!...We [in the U.S.] believe in white supremacy and black inferiority and believe it more than we believe in God.” As for Israel, “The Israelis have illegally occupied Palestinian territories for over 40 years now,” Wright has said. “Divestment has now hit the table again as a strategy to wake the business community and wake up Americans concerning the injustice and the racism under which the Palestinians have lived because of Zionism.” Obama says he found religion and Jesus Christ through Wright, whom he met in the mid-1980s. He has been attending Wright’s church regularly since 1988. The church occupies a tan building on West 95th Street near a public housing project and railroad tracks. Since becoming pastor in 1972, Wright has seen the church’s membership grow to more than 8,500. The church is the largest congregation in the United Church of Christ, a predominantly white denomination known for its liberal politics. In 1991, Obama joined the church and walked down the aisle in a formal commitment of faith. Wright later married Obama and Michelle Robinson and baptized their two daughters. The title of Obama’s bestseller “The Audacity of Hope” comes from one of Wright’s sermons. Wright is one of the first people Obama thanked after his election to the Senate in 2004. But Obama’s life does not exactly support Wright’s thesis that blacks in America are oppressed. A Harvard Law School graduate, Obama married a black Princeton graduate who also has a degree from Harvard Law School. Obama is a U.S. senator from Illinois; his wife is a vice president of the University of Chicago Hospitals. With his wife, Obama has been making more than $1 million a year. On a few points, Obama has sought to distance himself from Wright’s teachings or explain them away. While Wright is his pastor and friend, Obama has said, they do not see eye to eye on everything. In particular, Obama has said he “strongly disagrees with any portrayal of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that advocates divestment from Israel or expresses anything less than strong support for Israel’s security.” As for Wright’s repeated comments blaming America for the 9/11 attacks, Obama has said it sounds as if the minister was trying to be “provocative.” Just before Obama’s nationally televised campaign kickoff rally last Feb. 10, the candidate disinvited Wright from giving the public invocation. Wright explained: “When [Obama’s] enemies find out that in 1984 I went to Tripoli” to visit Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi with Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, “a lot of his Jewish support will dry up quicker than a snowball in hell.” According to Wright, Obama then told him, “'You can get kind of rough in the sermons, so what we’ve decided is that it’s best for you not to be out there in public.'” But privately, Obama and his family prayed with Wright just before the presidential announcement. To his credit, Obama so far has avoided race-specific appeals as part of his candidacy, accounting in part for his widespread appeal. Obama “has taught the black community you don’t have to act like Jesse Jackson, you don’t have to act like Al Sharpton,” conservative commentator Bill Bennett said on CNN on Jan. 3. “You can talk about the issues. [Obama has] great dignity.” But if Obama rejects Wright’s warped view of this country, why does he continue to attend his church, raising the question of whether Obama secretly agrees with his friend and mentor? At the least, Obama’s membership in Wright’s church suggests a lack of judgment and an insensitivity to views that are repugnant to the vast majority of white Americans who are not bigots. That same lack of judgment has shown up in Obama’s gaffes—threatening to invade Pakistan and offering prompt negotiations with anti-American despots. More frightening, Obama voted last August to give Osama bin Laden and other terrorists the same rights as Americans when it comes to intercepting their overseas calls in order to pick up clues needed to stop another attack. Jen Psaki, a spokesman for Obama’s campaign, has tried to paper over the candidate’s support of the Black Value System by saying that Obama “believes its basic tenets of commitment to God, to community, to self-discipline and self-reliance continue to have applicability not only to the African-American community but to all people.” But that is not what the Black Value System says. One can only imagine the outrage that would erupt if a white presidential candidate like Romney subscribed to something called the White Value System. Yet while Obama has been referred to in the media tens of thousands of times in the past month, only one story in the Concord Monitor in New Hampshire offhandedly mentioned Obama’s church’s “unashamedly black” slogan. In contrast, in an exquisite example of the double standard they apply to Democrats versus Republicans, the media love to focus on Romney’s religion, which is not relevant to how he would perform as president. Close to half the media references to Romney refer to the fact that he is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Very few of them mention that he is both a Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School graduate, credentials that are relevant to how he would perform as president. When Romney’s father ran for president, his religion was not an issue simply because the media rightly recognized that it was not pertinent to his candidacy. Today, as part of their coverage of Romney, the media run denigrating quotes about Mormonism that they would never dare to run about any other religion. At the same time, the media have largely ignored or downplayed the clearly racist slogan of Obama’s church and the anti-American and anti-Israel stances of its pastor. In two exceptions to the media blackout, Tucker Carlson of MSNBC described Trinity as having a “racially exclusive theology” that “contradicts the basic tenets of Christianity.” Sean Hannity of Fox News confronted Wright on TV and asked how a black value system is any more acceptable than a white value system. If a white presidential candidate’s church had a similar statement and “you substitute the word black for white, there would be an outrage in this country,” Hannity said. “There would be cries of racism in this country.'” “If your spiritual advisor makes outrageous statements, it’s incumbent on you as a leader to denounce those statements,” says Brad Blakeman, a former Bush White House aide who heads the conservative Freedom’s Watch. “Silence is an admission that you agree with what your spiritual advisor pronounces.” If his church membership calls into question Obama’s judgment, the dichotomy in the coverage of his and Romney’s religious affiliations spotlights the media’s double standard and how its skewed reporting influences who will become president. But media bias or not, if Obama is his party’s nominee, his Republican opponent will rightly be able to make use of Rev. Wright and his radical teachings as effectively as supporters of George H.W. Bush used Willie Horton’s furlough to help Bush win the presidency. Ronald Kessler is chief Washington correspondent of Newsmax.com. could someone xplain this to me in the easyist way possible i dont understand it it some thing about mancheste? As part of the Government's 'The Future of Air Transport' White Paper, Manchester Airport published its master plan on its future expansion up until 2030. Demolition of older buildings, such as old storage buildings, the old Alpha Catering Building and Males Garage, to the east of Terminal 3 has already begun. This is to make way for a new apron and taxiway towards runway 23R/05L, and an eastwards extension of Terminal 3, which is planned to provide an extra fifteen covered stands. A full length parallel taxiway may also be added to the second runway and more crossing points added across the first runway to improve ground movements of aircraft. Passenger flow on Terminal 1's gating piers is due to be realigned, with plans to redesign the piers such that departures and arrivals do not contraflow on the same level, allowing for larger seating areas at the gates, express retail outlets and a dedicated lounge and gating area for future Airbus A380 flights. An early phase of which has seen the removal of the South Bay remote aircraft stands, constructed in 1962, and situated between taxiways Juliet and Kilo and as a consequence the more recent re-alinement of taxiway Juliet into an extended taxiway Bravo. Terminal 2 is due to receive a major extension, to encompass current remote stands to the west. A satellite terminal is also projected for Terminal 2. Between twelve and fifteen covered aircraft stands will be made available by this. An airside link for transferring passengers between Terminals 1 & 2 is at the planning stage, designed in an effort to boost Manchester's chances of becoming a major hub airport and minimise potential missed connections. There is uncertainty as to whether this link should provide extra stands for the two terminals, or merely exist as a transfer corridor. All existing terminals are undergoing a retail and airport security refurbishment programme, with Terminals 1 and 3 due to be complete by spring 2009, and Terminal 2 by autumn 2009. The security control areas have undergone upgrades of new X-ray machines and passenger authenticity control systems, which will ensure a higher and faster passenger throughput, whilst improving the already elevated levels of security at the airport. The new security control areas are now in operation in Terminals 1 & 2. Terminal 3 acquired an extra security control area in November 2007, located near check-in zone C. This was initially dedicated to passengers travelling to CTA destinations. In January 2008, the usage was extended to all Terminal 3 passengers, with the exception of those destined for Frankfurt, Paris Charles de Gaulle and Brussels. This new security control area is now used for all departures out of Terminal 3; the old security area has now closed and is being de-commissioned. The current fire station on the north of the airfield is becoming outdated and expensive to maintain and is also in the way of future apron and taxiway developments, so it is also stated that this may be demolished and a new facility built close to the original fire station site.[citation needed] A third runway and a Terminal 4 may also be developed, however any such expansion would be subject to a major public inquiry, and neither is currently accounted for in the airport's plans to 2015.[citation needed] The taxiways are undergoing a phased renewal programme. Work on taxiway Alpha has recently been completed, and runway crossing point Delta Zulu is being resurfaced. The 'South Bay' stands at the end of B Pier recently closed to make way for a realigning of part of taxiway Juliet to allow the accommodation of the Airbus A380. The work also fits in with the airfield's future taxiway strategy.[citation needed] On 27 April 2008, it was announced that the Manchester Airports Group, which owns Manchester Airport together with the regional airports at East Midlands and Bournemouth, plans to sell its majority stake of 87% in the smaller Humberside Airport, which it has run since 1999. The money raised from the sale will go into developments and expansion at its other airports, a large proportion of which will most probably be used to fund the above expansion of Manchester.[36] On 17 September 2008, it was announced that BAA were to sell London Gatwick Airport ahead of the Competition Commission possibly forcing the sale following their main report due in 2009. The airport is estimated to be worth around £1.8billion.[37] Manchester Airports Group are believed to be one of the interested parties. Should such a bid be tabled and accepted, it would create a business which would rival the current BAA domination of the United Kingdom's airport infrastructure.[37] The Asian carrier Royal Brunei Airlines has expressed an interest in commencing 4 flights per-week to the Brunei capital Bandar Seri Begawan from Manchester in its plan to expand operations throughout the UK. expain all that soo i understand it lol
Help needed to make presentation on case study (two faces of JCpenney). please help? Two Faces of J.C. penney In 2000, Dallas retailer Jcpenney (JCpenney.con) enhanced its e-retail position in time for the holiday rush by adding homegrown site features that let customers more quickly locate and pay for merchandise. With JcPenney.com, the company unveiled express checkout services that let customers zip through a purchase in as few as two clicks. It also inaugurated electronic gift certificates that can be redeemed online, plus improved order tracking to give customers more accurate delivery estimates. These features followed the earty November 2000 launch of Mercado Search, a search engine that lets shoppers prowl JcPenney's site by product category and receive results ranked according to relevance. In 2001, the company rolled out specialized sites dedicated to name-brand merchandise, making it easier for customers to find ceriain products. All these steps were designed to boost the company's online strategy. The success of JCPenney, com, in large measure, is a result of a customer service and logistics infrastructure built to support a multibillion-dollar catalog business that has been extended online. JcPenney.com broadened its appeal by launching specialiy sites to promote high margin brands, including Sony, Levi Strauss, Nike, and Kitchen Aid (appliances) The idea is to drive purchases of name-brand merchandise by providing more detailed information on those products, as well as direct links to the manufacturers. JcPenney is also conducting auctlons on its Web site. The company boasts strong integration between its Web site and its offline infrastructure that helps the site reach its aggressive sales targets. Anything purchased online can be picked up or returned at any JcPenney or Eckerd store. JCPenney has 14 customer-service centers nationwide that handle catalog and phone inquiries, and employees have been cross-trained in e-mail United Parcel Service (UPS) delivers most merchandise ordered online within 24 to 72 hours. JCPenney serves customers via three sales channels - stores, catalogs, and the Web site. Integrating these three channels will eventually play off, according to Forrester Research analyst Seema Williams "As the number of on-line shoppers grows, the impact from multiple channels will be felt much more on JcPenney's bottom line," Williams said. Despite the strong Web performance, e-commerce alone most likely cannot turn around a company of JCPenney's size. "The Web is such a small part of their business; there's no way it's going to turn around the company," said an expert. "The Web is icing on the cake, but the biggest pad of the company, by far, is struggling
Can you come up an answer for this?--------------------------------------------------------------------------- Barack Obama's Racist Church If Sen. Should a Cell Phone Dealer Be Responsible For Following Corporate Direction? How Not to Pay Your City Cell Phone Tax MetroPCS in the Bay Area has found a way around paying their fair share of cell phone taxes. Actually they have found a way to save San Franciscan's money. Depending on how you look at it. I imagine that MetroPCS would like you to think that it is on your behalf. When I signed up for my MetroPCS phone I gave them my real name, number address etc. I got locked out of Voicemail and was prompted to give my address. This led me to find out that the address they had on file and the one I gave them were not the same. I went into a corporate store and received a printout which included my recorded address. I went back to the store where I bought my phone and inquired... We have asked more than 4 store managers and one corporate store why the address We gave them was not the address they had on file and we were told the same thing in each store. "San Francisco tax is too expensive"..Save money..good for the customer etc. These stores offer you a chance to "save money" by eliminating a paper bill being mailed to you. In this way the customer can save as much as $3.50 or more each month by having their bill viewed online. But where do the savings come from? Less Tax of course! But wait I do pay a monthly 911 tax of about 80 cents which needs to be collected by San Francisco so I heard. It is curious that I pay a city tax on a phone that is registered out of the city. To be fair it's a good price point strategy for MetroPCS since their product (which is primarily targeting those with limited or no credit, terrorists and drug dealers) requires up to 10% tax to be collected in California which prices the product at over $50. By eliminating the higher cell tax Metropcs users in San Francisco and Daly City pay around $49 a month. So, If you choose not to get a paper bill you opt out of paying the SF Tax. http://metropcs.com/support/faq.php#200 Could it be that MetroPCS said screw you to San Francisco after the city won repeated attempts to force potentially harmful transmission towers to be built under protest in the community. see: Metro PCS v city and county of San Francisco. http://www.ca9.uscourts.gov/coa/newopinions.nsf/924A93785E9B655988256FBD005FBEB6/$file/0316759.pdf?openelement I'd sure like to know why our external account billing will record an out of town address such as the 89 Linden ave, South San Francisco address some stores use. We have uncovered more than a dozen MetroPCS dealers who send their customer call records to this address. This address is needed by government to verify the Cell Owner relating to tax and other purposes. Have MetroPCS and it's 40 independent dealers in San Francisco and Daly City conspired to defraud or inhibit with the collection of it's cell phone tax? Are they failing to keep accurate customer records which could be helpful in approved police investigations? Is this the tip of a larger pattern and practice? Los Angeles taxes their local customers 10%. In fact there are 160 Cities in California requiring a utility users tax. http://www.citymayors.com/finance/phone_tax.html Here is a link to the related City Tax Code 1.703-2 page. http://www.sfgov.org/site/treasurer_page.asp?id=17806 What also isn't clear is whether printed call records are being sent to addresses outside of the city to comply with the local usage and address verification ordinance. What this means to you the customer is that your personal call records may be accessed and retained by unknown third parties. Which last time I checked is illegal. Not to mention with all the NSA illegal Domestic wiretapping hitting the news. When you sign up for a pre-paid anonymous cell phone in San Francisco chances are that your calls are not anonymous any longer. Hello Hello Hello A little history on MetroPCS http://www.buyblue.org/node/1503/view/summary With the courts on its side, MetroPCS Communications has battled back from bankruptcy. The company is developing its phone networks using CDMA (code division multiple access) technology. It operates in the metropolitan areas of Atlanta, Miami, Sacramento, and San Francisco. In 1995 MetroPCS purchased 14 spectrum licenses in an FCC auction but claimed the price was too much. The matter was argued in the courts, and the FCC sought help from the US Supreme Court, which denied it a hearing; in 2001 the deal price was reduced from $1 billion to $166 million. CEO Roger Linquist and CTO Malcolm Lorang founded MetroPCS in 1994. [b][i]While MetroPCS and it's dealers have some splainin to do, $834 Million Dollars says this company will find a way out.[/i][/b] Does the City have the guts to stand-up and demand a proper review against a former partner to Arthur Anderson, a Private Council to the President, a Barbary Coast Consulting client? Will all 40 Independent dealers like EZ Wireless in San Francisco be held responsible and split the bill? Only Time Will Tell... I wouldn't count on the Chronicle speaking too harshly about one of its bigger advertising clients though. Here's what USA Today has to say after finding out MetroPCS hasn't upgraded it's 911 system in Florida published a week or so ago. http://www.nbc-2.com/articles/readinvestigativearticle.asp?articleid=8251&z=5&p= MetroPCS is a non-union, low budget-high profit operation. They have sued the city more than once and have cost the city of San Francisco a lot of money. They came to the table offering competitive service, comparative value and considerable tax subsidy. Maybe its time the city replaces their contract. Or Not! What is your opinion? Can You Hear Me Now? C. History
