I was just wondering if any of the enlightened individuals of R&S could give me a reason for theistic belief that doesn't fall into the following 11 categories. 1. Argument from Design 2. Pascal's Wager 3. Argument from Improbability 4. Argument from Personal Experience 5. Argument from Authority 6. First Cause Argument 7. Argument from Coercion 8. The Ontological Argument 9. Argument from Popularity 10. Shifting the Burden of Proof 11. Argument from Ignorance If you don't understand what any of these mean please check out the following link for an explanation. http://www.freethoughtpedia.com/wiki/Top_ten_arguments_for_the_existence_of_God Ok? Did any of you read the question? I'm thinking that 'problem' is the closest so far? In gods hands - You've managed to cover nearly all of them? Lil m, I've already been to a kingdom hall - when I was 12 years old. They kicked me out for asking too many questions they couldn't answer. John m, yeah it does fall into the personal experience one. However it seems as though you answer the original question as honestly as you could. For which I can't really find fault. Thanx for not preaching Vincent, are you suggesting you've got a photo of god? Thats why I believe in my great - great - grandparents! drink_pepsi - Fair enough no holes in that arguement. Apart from the obvious problem that church girls ain't gonna put out till you marry them.... renny - thats pascal wager. TKDMAN12 - Did you not notice how I was nice enough to leave the 'avenue' of definitive proof well and trully open. Your going to hold me at fault because no-one noticed? Ok I ain't got a clue who to choose on this one. I'm gonna put it to vote.
The best answer for you is: faith.
I know that falls under your category 'personal experience,' but doesn't all the others too?
It's all based on ideas formed appealing to the fact that they're difficult or impossible to disprove rather than adhering to what's evident and likely.
Church is a great way to meet hot Christian/Muslim/Jewish chicks. They're well-groomed, they can hold a conversation and these girls will always laugh at your stupid jokes. Isn't that enough? My argument has no holes. I win this debate!
You can't really answer questions of people who already think they know. See it's always the way with link people.
Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
There's no use to offer a valid reason to someone who is totally closed to any possible answer that does not agree with their thinking
Do you really want to take the chance that you are wrong when you say god doesnt exist? I think I would rather say god does exist and be wrong than to say he doesnt exist and be wrong. Myself I know with all my heart he does exist cause he lives in me.
God continues to be a very personal subject, but only to those who can entertain the possibility that He could, in fact, exist. Its been my experience that the above captioned list is standard fare for those wishing to dismantle God, and have gone round and round with others who have also espoused these ideas, and I have to say, at this point in time, I consider it a waste of time. Your belief in God will do no good to me, only to you. And since you already know all there is to know, I would sooner spend my time in better fashion, than to squander it here on these same old questions. I wish you well.
I find it especially interesting that, for the sake of discussion, you chose a website where the author has a very hard time putting two grammatically correct sentences together.
Be that as it may: The answer to your question is; it does not matter if you believe in Him or not. He believes in you.
Although..I do not believe in God like others do. I feel God is everything, and everyone all combined...not one person ruling over all!!!
Myself...I had trouble even when I was little and went to Sunday school.
Once I got into grade school, and Jr. high I just didn't believe what I was reading or being told.
My parent's didn't continue to go to church, and neither did I. I just couldn't make sense out of the Bible, and I felt that if God was a loving, caring God...he wouldn't let things happen to people, and you shouldn't have to believe all the things Christians do.
Alot of them tend to be rude, prejudice, and cruel individuals.
I am not saying all of them, but they need to practice what they preach.
I find that Earth based religions, etc.make more sense and allow people to do and believe as they wish.
Harm none...Brightest Blessings!
