Expert opinion needed- house style.?

My house was built in 1889 as a hotel in Cedar Lake, IN. It has 13 rooms, 3 floors, and floor-to-ceiling windows. I have lived here for 7 years and have yet to figure it out myself. It seems to be victorian, but I am not sure. I have found out it was built in the Victorian Age (1837-1901; not like that has to do with anything.....) but i was wondering if anyone could help me out..... there is a link to a photo taken of the house. Yes it is an actual postcard from the 1800's. I had to resize it. 63094801 pixels?!?!?! http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=125385299

  1. Traditional Farmhouse

  2. Possibly?

  3. Wowzer! It's a beaut. I congratulate you. It looks like an American Farmhouse style to me.

  4. Yes, Farmhouse, but does it have Victorian amenities, like oranate woodwork ? How about the bottom stair post ? Does it have a hidden compartment? In alot of houses, the top of the bottom post came off. Most families put their deed in there, or other valuables to grab on the way out in case of fire. 13 rooms ? 3 floors ? VERY lucky. That's very Victorian. Has some other siding been put on, maybe covering something better?

  5. I can't see the front of the house well enough to comment. But without the towers, or spires I don't think it is.

Is the front of the house asymetrical?

Is there a porch, and what is it like?

What's the roof line? Is it sectioned? And if it is, are they all in he same direction?

Sorry, but I can't see enough in that picture.
