Need help building a Dell Studio 15!?

So, I'm going to boarding school in the fall as a junior (11th grade) and am getting a laptop within the next few weeks. I'm pretty much set on the Dell Studio 15 (feel free to tell me your experiences/opinions on them...). I'm not computer savy at all so I need help building it. I'll list what I've put together, but PLEASE tell me if I need more or less. And in case it helps, I'll be using it for school work, internet surfing, uploading pictures and videos off my camera (I'm not a photographer or anything, but I just take pictures and videos once in a while). Dell Studio 15 (starts at $599) + $30 Promise Pink [included in price] Pentium Dual Core T4200 (2.0GHz/800Mhz FSB/1MB cache) however, I'm contemplating if it's worth the extra $50 to upgrade to: Intel Core 2 Duo T6400 (2.00 GHz/ 800Mhz FSB/2MB cache) will it make much of a difference? if so, what exactly will it do? [included in price] Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium Edition SP1 [included in price] 1 year limited warranty + mail in service [included in price] no productivity software I do NEED Microsoft Office Home + Student 2007 and was thinking I could buy it and install in on my computer for less $ than upgrading on dell.com for $139...is this true? [included in price] bright, glossy widescreen 15.4 WLED display (1280x800) [included in price] 3GB shared dual channel DDR2 at 800MHz [included in price] 250GB SATA hard drive (5400RPM) [included in price] Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500 MHD Would it be possible to play any games with this video card..such as Zoo Tycoon, horseback riding games like Time To Ride? [included in price] 8x Slot Load CD/DVD Burner (Dual Layer DVD +/- R Drive) NOT DECIDED! : [included in price] Dell Wireless 1397 802.11g half mini-card or +$35 Intel WiFi Link 5100 802.11agn half mini-card is the second option much better? will I notice a difference? $0 No Mobile Broadband Network...i dont need this, correct? [included in price] Integrated 2.0M Pixel Webcam [included in price] 56 Whr Lithium Ion Battery (6 cell)...would the 85 Whr Lithium Ion Battery (9 cell) be much better for the extra $40? [included in price] High Definition Audio 2.0 +$25 Back-lit Keyboard $0 No Fingerprint Scanner I have heard that the speakers are horrendous on this laptop...but how bad exactly? Like, could I watch videos on YouTube and be able to hear? And listen to music (I'd never need it to blare across the room) but quietly while I'm sitting next to it? Thank you SO MUCH for helping me. I appreciate any bit of info/tips anyone can give me :]

  1. If you plan on having your computer for more than a year, dont get a dell. The components will die a slow painful death right about the time your warranty expires. Just a head up.

  2. Dell Latitude is a good line - the rest of their stuff (other than the gaming computers) isn;'t worth owning.

HP has gone from excellent to poor quality and insane tech support people. Compaq was low quality after the first year. Sony and Dell Latitude are good, but overpriced. Gateway made 2 great laptops, then discontinued them. (I don't have any recent experience with Toshiba or Lenovo, so I can't comment.)

Not much else left. In fact, the only laptops I'd look at today are ASUS and Acer, if I couldn't find a Gateway P7811FX stuck in the back of a stockroom somewhere.
